Frequently asked questions
Can I use the sworn translation to exchange my driving licence?
Yes. To exchange a foreign licence, the Spanish Directorate-General for Traffic requires an official translation of the licence; the sworn translation is the format generally accepted.
What about the international driving permit?
The international permit allows you to drive temporarily, but it does not replace the translation in an exchange procedure, nor before an insurer or a court.
Are both sides translated?
Yes. The restrictions, the categories and the validity dates appear on the back and form part of the document, so they are translated in full.
How is it delivered?
As a PDF electronically signed by the sworn translator, valid on online government portals. If you prefer to submit it in person, add postal delivery of the paper copy.
