Frequently asked questions

What a sworn translation is and how valid it is

It is the translation of a document produced by a sworn translator-interpreter appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. It bears their certification, signature and stamp, attesting that the text is faithful and complete, and it is the version accepted by public authorities, registries and courts.

Yes ✅. Since 2020 the Office for Language Interpretation has accepted the sworn translator's qualified electronic signature: the signed PDF has the same validity as the paper copy and can be submitted through any online government portal. If the body in question asks you for paper, you can add postal delivery (+15 €).

Only the sworn translator-interpreters listed in the official register published by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. If your document is intended to take effect in another country, it must be signed by a translator authorised by the competent authority of that country: tell us the destination and we will confirm which format you need.

Documents we translate and international recognition

We translate all kinds of official and administrative documents, including:

  • Birth, marriage and death certificates
  • Criminal record certificates, passports, national ID cards (DNI) and foreigner ID numbers (NIE)
  • University degrees, academic transcripts and school certificates
  • Contracts, payslips, powers of attorney, judgments and court decisions

A translation signed by a sworn translator appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is valid before the Spanish authorities. To submit a Spanish document abroad, the original usually also needs the Hague Apostille (or consular legalisation if the country is not party to the 1961 Convention).

We work with the combinations for which we have an authorised sworn translator, which are the ones shown in the drop-down list on each product page. If yours is not there, write to us before ordering and we will confirm availability and the lead time.

Prices, lead times and options (apostille, postal delivery)

Most translations are delivered within 24-48 working hours from validation and payment. For long documents we confirm a specific lead time before starting.

27 € per page, whatever the language combination.
What makes the total vary:

  • The number of pages in the document
  • The options you choose (postal delivery of the paper copy)

Yes, and at no extra cost. If you need the translation in less than 24 hours, tell us before placing the order, by email or from the quote page: priority handling is free.

The Hague Apostille is an international certification attesting to the authenticity of a public document. In Spain it is issued by the Ministry of Justice, the High Courts of Justice or the General Council of Notaries, depending on the document. 👉 Always obtain it before ordering the translation: it is affixed to the original and is translated as well.

Yes. For orders of several documents or large volumes we apply special rates. Write to us and we will prepare a tailored quote for you.

Ordering, tracking and invoicing

It is generated automatically with every order. You can also ask us for it by email and we will send it to you as a PDF.

When you confirm the order you will receive an email setting out the details of your request. We will let you know again as soon as the translation is ready and sent.

Yes, as long as the translation has not started. Once work has begun, cancellation is no longer possible because the service is produced to order on your document; we remain flexible about adjusting options such as postal delivery.

Confidentiality and special documents

Yes ✅. Every document you entrust to us is handled in strict confidence. Only the sworn translator in charge of your file has access to it, and they are bound by professional secrecy.

In that case we may ask you for a typed transcript or a sharper scan, to avoid any error in the translation.
