Frequently asked questions
Which court decisions are translated most often?
Divorce and separation judgments, custody decisions, adoption orders, succession rulings, and the orders and decrees filed in proceedings in another country.
Does the judgment have to be final?
To register or enforce it abroad, yes: a certified copy with the declaration that it is final is normally required. Request that certified copy from the court and have it translated together with the decision.
Is the whole decision translated?
Yes: the statement of facts, the legal grounds, the operative part, the endorsements and the stamps. A sworn translation must be faithful and complete, which is why the number of pages affects the turnaround time.
Who certifies it?
A sworn translator-interpreter appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, with their certification, their signature and their stamp on every page.
